Jean-Marie Machado has a fondness for line-ups that stray off the beaten path. Two artists. For a multitude of instruments — zarb, bells and various kinds of metal, daf, custom-built drum kit, darbouka, udu… A multitude of sounds, colours and timbres. And in the middle, a piano.
A piano that sings the melodies in all their bareness, with lyricism, resonating with the percussion. That of Keyvan Chemirani, the undisputed master of the zarb and digital percussion, heir to an immense paternal legacy rich in breathtaking dexterity.
Together, in a hushed dialogue, sometimes in unison, sometimes weaving their conversations together, they invite us on a journey of inventiveness and surprises, in an original, captivating atmosphere.

Keyvan Chemirani is a French percussionist of Iranian-French origin, a specialist in the Iranian zarb, born in 1968 in Paris. He released his first album, Zarb Solo, Zarb Duo, in 1997.
