Overview
Long known on the Marseille and national music scene, Kourou Fia comes from a great lineage of Guinean griots and has been a member of the group Ba Cissoko since its creation in 1999. He has collaborated with major artists such as Ray Lema, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Elvin Jones, Amadou & Mariam, Jean-Philippe Rykiel and Flavia Coelho, asserting an open musical identity deeply rooted in intercultural dialogue.
With Cokora, Kourou Fia delivers a second deeply personal album, in which the kora becomes a fluid speech, freed from the limits of language. Driven by a subtle fusion of African music, flamenco and jazz, this opus tells of transmission, resilience and the passage from an ancient heritage to a contemporary expression, like a universal that would change its point of view.
Kourou Fia kora, and Robby Marshalh, saxophone.
