Overview
Siegfried, a young prince of marriageable age, is ordered by his parents to choose a wife during a ball held for the occasion. Furious to see his romanticism so roughly handled, the young man goes off hunting. Arriving at the lakeside, just as he is about to aim at a flock of white swans, he watches, dumbfounded, as they transform into a myriad of young women, among whom is the delightful Odette…
Drawing on various versions rooted in Slavic culture and on more personal sources of inspiration, far removed from the technicality of the ballet it takes as its starting point, the show invents a hybrid vocabulary made of words, gestures, sounds and images, in order to recompose the story that Swan Lake made popular.
