Le Voyage de Chihiro (Spirited Away)

Simple Music Ensemble World presents the finest melodies from the celebrated Studio Ghibli animated film Spirited Away. Spirited Away is a cult work by the great Japanese storyteller Hayao Miyazaki. It was the first film to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

The film tells the story of a little girl who finds herself in a mysterious world and faces many trials to save her parents from the grip of an evil witch. Each of Miyazaki's films is a world unto itself, with its own rules and its own philosophy.

The composer's haunting themes have become inseparable from Miyazaki's artistic language, making Hisaishi a co-author of many of the studio's masterpieces.

The composer writes the soundtrack not after the film's edit, but from the very start of production, working from a brief description. Hisaishi draws on great variety in his work, ranging from orchestral melodies to 1980s Japanese electronic music.

These melodies will carry our audience into the magical world of Hayao Miyazaki, where evil is always stronger at first, but where good always ends up triumphing.

Simple Music Ensemble World will perform at the Le Regard du Cygne studio, as part of the venue's spaces being made available to its members.
