Overview
Rachida Brakni explores the figure of Medea in a play that gives voice to a mother's wavering.
Born from the meeting between the actress Rachida Brakni and the director Louise Vignaud, this creation tackles a delicate and taboo subject in our societies: infanticide. Médée/s gives voice to a mother's wavering, caught between social expectation, loneliness and the desire to disappear. Her words meet those of Euripides and are set against contemporary testimony inspired by the documentary Mères à perpétuité by Sofia Fischer.
To give voice to the unspeakable, Louise Vignaud has brought together the cellist and sound creator Orane Duclos and the illustrator Irène Vignaud, who together will create a sensory and polymorphic stage installation. A play that unsettles, questions and moves, embodied by an actress who is free and committed.
