Published almost 100 years ago, Virginia Woolf's eponymous novel recounts the incredible odyssey of a young aristocrat through centuries and genders. First a man then a woman after a long sleep, Orlando's personality remains immutable. What changes is the historical context, the way iel is perceived, and societal constraints. Katia Ferreira takes hold of this avant-garde novelistic material and shifts the present of its writing to that of its representation, extending the contemporary resonances of this audacious fresco that describes an eminently modern identity fluidity. Between theatre, music, and live cinema, costume and focal changes, she orchestrates a succession of eras and landscapes around this romantic and dreamy soul, a being of metamorphoses and a metaphor for free will.
