Guitar and cello

Works written for guitar and cello are rather uncommon. Yet this is the idea that the Brazilian composer Radamés Gnattali made his own in his Sonata for Cello and Guitar, illustrating how thin the line is between popular and classical music in Brazilian culture. To build an entire concert around this work, Henri Demarquette and Philippe Mouratoglou have indulged in the joys of transcription, with a guiding principle: to pair their instruments, as noble as they are popular, in order to celebrate light and joy through music bathed in sunshine, from the shores of the Mediterranean to the countries of South America.
