Guitar and cello

Works written for guitar and cello are rare. Yet, this is the idea that Brazilian composer Radamés Gnattali embraced in his Sonata for cello and guitar: he thus illustrates how thin the line between popular and classical music is in Brazilian culture. To build an entire concert around this work, Henri Demarquette and Philippe Mouratoglou indulged in the joys of transcription with a guiding principle: to combine their instruments, as noble as they are popular, to celebrate light and joy through sun-drenched music, from the shores of the Mediterranean to the countries of South America.
