After the success of Notre-Dame de Paris in 2024, the Ballet de l'Opéra National de Bordeaux pays tribute to the man who gave rise to a resolutely modern body of work, without ever breaking from classical technique.

The evening devoted to him brings together four iconic scores of this dramatic approach. Free and confrontational, Carmen was a resounding success in London in 1949 with Zizi Jeanmaire in the title role inspired by Mérimée's story.

L'Arlésienne takes up the tragic plot of Daudet's short story in a Provençal, Van Gogh-esque setting, while Thaïs and La Prisonnière offer performers a rare, demanding field of expression, drawing on the characters of the novels of Anatole France and Marcel Proust.

An invitation to rediscover a theatre of the body where dance becomes language, and the performer takes centre stage in the story. Production Théâtre National Croate de Zagreb
