Going against the grain of classical narration, Nathalie Béasse carves out her own path, and her eminently plastic scenic writing slips into the intersection of theatre, dance, and performance.

Trained in Fine Arts, the director has a gift for creating living tableaus, organic or evanescent tales, and dreamlike, penetrating visions. In Velvet, three performers become one with the set to transform it before our eyes and generate stories out of nowhere, unpredictable and enigmatic, choreographies of materials centred around an emblematic scenographic element: the theatre curtain. Evoking the drapery of classical painting or the passage between worlds, it is here endowed with movement and, why not, a soul.
