A l'Ombre des Choses

Attached to Clichy, where he lived for many years, Anatole Édouard Nicolo is particularly happy to present for the first time the stage adaptation of his novel À l'ombre des choses, awarded the Prix Envoyé par la Poste 2024.

Alone on stage, he tells the story of a child growing up amidst the laughter of an artistic family and the upheavals caused by his parents' separation. Tossed between a social home, a squat, and small everyday shelters, he searches for his place in a world that sometimes seems to elude him. By his side, one presence remains: that of his elder brother, who gradually finds his path in music.

Through this autobiographical narrative, Anatole Édouard Nicolo delicately and sincerely evokes the fragilities of childhood, family ties, unspoken words, and self-construction. Carried by a refined staging where sound and light extend the emotions of the story, the show gives substance to an intimate tale that resonates with many life journeys.
