Ariane Ascaride

When Ariane Ascaride unpacks her bags and decides to tell her life story, it's a powerful performance based on a meticulously crafted text, co-written with Marie Desplechin and choreographed by Thierry Thieû Niang. So many memories and family stories are packed into these six suitcases!

When Ariane Ascaride packs her bags and decides to tell her life story, things get moving in a text as precise as a plumb line, co-written with Marie Desplechin and choreographed by Thierry Thieû Niang. What a store of memories and family stories packed into these six suitcases!

Thus weighed down, Ariane Ascaride arrives on stage with arms and baggage to leave nothing out of her rather peculiar story. There is plenty to tell when you grow up between a communist father, a philanderer mad about opera who makes the Red Army Choir howl, and a almost mute mother. Inevitably, the little girl is somewhat "touched by the fairies" as they say in Marseille, a touch fada. Ariane laughs about it, and unspools the thread of her existence as an endearing, burlesque comedy, offering us the role of her life like a gift from the fairies.
