Ariane Ascaride

When Ariane Ascaride unpacks her suitcases and decides to tell her life story, things get moving in a text that is precisely crafted, co-written with Marie Desplechin and choreographed by Thierry Thieû Niang.

What a store of memories and family stories packed into these six suitcases! Thus weighed down, Ariane Ascaride arrives on stage with all her belongings to leave nothing out of her rather peculiar story.

There is plenty to tell when you grow up between a communist father, a philanderer and opera fanatic who makes the Choeurs de l'Armée Rouge howl, and a almost silent mother. Naturally, the little girl is somewhat "touched by the fairies", as they say in Marseille, a touch fada.

Ariane finds it funny, and she unrolls the thread of her existence as an endearing, burlesque comedy, offering herself the role of her life like a gift from the fairies. Text: Marie Desplechin. Performed by: Ariane Ascaride. Direction & choreography: Thierry Thieû Niang.
