Bezperan

Bezperan One winter's evening, in the snow, women and men talk to the bees so they won't fly away. Drawing on Basque rituals imagined to awaken the earth, the eight dancers and four musicians of the Bilaka collective conjure a powerful dance-and-music fable.

A truly invigorating ritual where tradition speaks in the present tense. The word Bezperan evokes "the day before", that moment between disappearance and renewal. In the Basque Country, the gods are not in the sky, but beneath the earth.

And tonight, women and men dance, stamp the ground and sing, so that the bees will keep giving their wax and their light.

Born from the meeting between the Bilaka collective and director Daniel San Pedro, the show draws on Basque funeral and carnival rites to revive our bond with nature. In this fiery, organic and raw ode to the earth, traditional music and dance intertwine and reinvent themselves.

The sap rises, desire circulates and, little by little, life carries us away. Running time: 1h00
