Daudi Matsiko + Kat White

Daudi Matsiko at POPUP!

Super! presents Daudi Matsiko on 26 October at POPUP! (rescheduled date from 12 March 2026 at POPUP!)

Support: Kat White

Kat White uses her voice, her lyrics (in English and sometimes in French) and her personal experience to invite us to explore the ruptures that shape us. The artist and her guitarist will perform a collection of folk pop songs on vocals and guitar, with a poetic approach that does not lose any of its intensity.

The debut album from British-Ugandan singer-songwriter Daudi Matsiko, The King Of Misery, is a both poignant and beautiful exploration of depression, bipolar disorder and the search for hope through these experiences.

His fragile yet powerful voice, evocative lyrics and modern folk melodies have earned him praise from Gilles Peterson, Lauren Laverne, Jamz Supernova, Dean Jackson, Sian Eleri, Jamie Cullum, Tom Robinson, John Kennedy, Simon Phillips, as well as from comedian and podcaster Adam Buxton.

Following a standing ovation at the Great Escape Festival, and with the support of POWER UP, the PRS Foundation and the Alberts Favourites label, Matsiko founded his own label, Really Good, in order to release his first album.

Since its release, The King Of Misery has received 4 stars in Mojo Magazine and Far Out Magazine, has been featured on several Spotify editorial playlists, has been the subject of a lead article in Bandcamp Weekly, and continues to captivate listeners around the world.

Matsiko also delivered an unforgettable performance and an illuminating interview on episode 215 of the Adam Buxton Podcast, as well as a spellbinding live session recorded at BBC Maida Vale Studios for Gilles Peterson on BBC 6 Music.
