Here Because Of Hope is the most ambitious and personal album of Ezra Collective's career.
Conceived as a work divided into three movements both spiritual and geographical, it traces the journey of Black people across continents and decades, from melodies of Africa to Caribbean rhythms, to the streets of London.
Formed in London youth clubs, the Mercury Prize and BRIT Award-winning group – composed of Femi Koleoso, TJ Koleoso, Joe Armon-Jones, James Mollison and Ife Ogunjobi – has spent over a decade making jazz joyful, urgent and unmissable.
With Here Because Of Hope, they push this vision further than ever, asking a simple but profound question: why does so much Black music born from suffering sound so joyful? Their answer: hope.
