Overview
Here Because Of Hope is the most ambitious and most personal album in Ezra Collective's career.
Conceived as a work divided into three movements that are both spiritual and geographical, it traces the journey of Black people across continents and decades, from the melodies of Africa to the rhythms of the Caribbean, and on to the streets of London.
Formed in London's youth clubs, the group – winner of the Mercury Prize and the BRIT Awards, made up of Femi Koleoso, TJ Koleoso, Joe Armon-Jones, James Mollison and Ife Ogunjobi – has for more than a decade been making jazz joyful, urgent and indispensable.
With Here Because Of Hope, they push this vision further than ever, asking a simple but profound question: why does so much Black music born from suffering sound so joyful? Their answer: hope.
That belief, passed down through generations and across oceans, that something better is possible. Catch Ezra Collective in an exceptional concert on 24 February 2027 at Zénith Paris - La Villette
