Overview
A joyful and sensitive reworking of the life of a rebellious bird. François Gremaud continues his trilogy on female figures by taking on Bizet's work, the tragic opéra-comique most performed in the world since its creation.
To celebrate this heroine, driven by a burning desire for freedom and imagined by Prosper Mérimée, he offers a bespoke transcription, sung and narrated by Rosemary Standley, singer of Moriarty, accompanied by five women musicians.
Mixing juicy historical anecdotes with flavoursome feminist quips, she plays all the roles with an extraordinary vocal and dramatic presence, moving from soprano to baritone.
A lively show in which music and theatre intertwine to celebrate a figure of defiance that remains ever relevant!
