Overview
Recognised as one of modern Africa's most beautiful voices, Fatoumata Diawara has already captivated a handful of English rock heroes (Damon Albarn - Gorillaz), some American jazz giants (Herbie Hancock, Dee Dee Bridgewater), as well as the adventurous French artist M!
Blending tradition and modernity, she updates Wassoulou rhythms and West African vocal techniques, challenging conventions within an eclectic and avant-garde universe.
Afro-pop, folk, jazz, funk, and even indie rock: at the confluence of tradition and modernity, her vibrant music navigates from one style to another with stunning fluidity. Her lyrics also reveal a deeply committed personality, particularly to the cause of women.
