A 100% female New York formation, Flor de Toloache reclaims mariachi with cheerful inventiveness, injecting elements of rock, jazz, pop and r'n'b. On stage, their flamboyant colorful cocktail proves totally devastating.
Flor de Toloache started its great adventure in New York in 2008, under the impetus of Mireya I. Ramos (violin, vocals) and Shae Fiol (vihuela, vocals), both still heading the project today.
The only all-female mariachi group, with a composition that evolves over the years, it brings together musicians from varied origins and cultures.
Together, they blend traditional mariachi elements with various current sonorities (rock, jazz, pop, r'n'b…) to concoct a grand mix as stunning as it is heady.
Working thus at the confluence of tradition and modernity, Flor de Toloache demonstrates remarkable innovation capacity, amplified by a radiant energy that carries everything away in live performance, where the group shows its full measure.
