« FUGACES » de Aina Alegre - CCN de Grenoble & STUDIO FICTIF

FUGACES offers a free interpretation of the dance of one of the greatest "bailaora" of flamenco, Carmen Amaya. Gathering a fine team of many talents, choreographer Aina Alegre brings La Amaya's steps into our era, she who never ceased to shake up the codes of flamenco. FUGACES is a detached homage as much as a daring escape.

Carmen Amaya was bound to haunt the imagination of Aina Alegre, a prolific choreographer now at the head of the Centre chorégraphique de Grenoble. But with Aina Alegre, nostalgia gives way to modernity, that of La Amaya, the Gypsy woman whom Hollywood courted, a strong woman in a world of men, a myth in spite of herself.

FUGACES lives up to its title, a work that plays with rhythm, summoning a miniature brass band on stage or unrolling a round dance, waistcoat open across the chest or a skirt panel over trousers, to keep a certain flamenco folklore at arm's length.

More than once, the show takes us into a fiesta, the dancers turning the stamping on the ground typical of flamenco, or the arched poses, on their heads.

For Aina Alegre, Carmen Amaya is a "revenante", a kind of benevolent ghost, guardian of this creation with its wild energy.

From Ravel's Boléro, here deconstructed, to the projected images of Carmen Amaya, everything here, then, makes sense. And sensation.
