Overview
FUGACES. FUGACES
presents itself as a free interpretation of the dance of one of flamenco's greatest "bailaoras", Carmen Amaya. Bringing together a fine team of multi-talented artists, choreographer Aina Alegre places La Amaya's steps in our own era — she who never stopped shaking up the codes of flamenco
FUGACES
is both a distanced homage and a beautiful escape. Carmen Amaya could only haunt the imagination of Aina Alegre, a prolific choreographer now at the head of the Centre Chorégraphique de Grenoble. But in Aina Alegre's hands, nostalgia gives way to modernity — that of La Amaya, a gypsy woman Hollywood fell for, a strong woman in a man's world, a myth in spite of herself
FUGACES
lives up to its title, a piece that plays with rhythm, summoning a miniature brass band onto the stage or unfurling a round dance, waistcoat open over the chest or a strip of skirt over trousers, to keep a certain flamenco folklore at arm's length. More than once, the show sweeps us into a fiesta, the dancers subverting the floor stamps typical of flamenco, or the arched poses. For Aina Alegre, Carmen Amaya is a "returning spirit", a kind of benevolent ghost watching over this wildly energetic creation. From Ravel's Boléro, deconstructed here, to the projected images of Carmen Amaya, everything here makes sense. And makes an impact. Philippe Noisette. Type: Dance / Music. Show suitable from age 12 (very brief nudity). Duration: 1h. Accessible-seating bookings: 01 53 65 30 00
