Overview
Ismène Reine, a show by the company La Republik des Gens gentils, is a contemporary and wildly eccentric tragedy, blending theatre, techno, dance, circus and partying.
After the death of Antigone, Ismène becomes queen of Thebes. But how do you govern a city scarred by generations of violence?
Here, the audience becomes the people of Thebes: they watch, react, take part and find themselves swept up in an experience of democracy as joyful as it is chaotic.
Immersive and politically engaged, the piece sets bodies vibrating, stirs the mind, warms the heart and gets the blood pumping. And because in Thebes the party never stops… the evening carries on with a DJ set.
