KMFDM
took a brief hiatus in early 1999 after recording its 10th album at Wax Trax Records, which had difficulties with TVT Records. After releasing studio albums and touring frequently throughout the 2000s, Konietzko and Cifarelli returned to Germany in 2008. Critics consider KMFDM one of the first bands to have popularized industrial music with the mainstream, though Konietzko describes their music as The Ultra-Heavy Beat. The group incorporates heavy metal riffs, electronic music, and male and female vocals, which encompass a variety of styles, including industrial rock, electronic body music, and even reggae and dub. The band is fiercely committed, with many of its lyrics opposing violence, war, and oppression
KMFDM
is known for touring after each major release, and its members are renowned for their accessibility and interaction with fans, both online and in concert. KMFDM's new album will be released in February 2026.
