KMFDM

KMFDM /kaːɛmɛfdeːɛm/ is a German industrial metal band from Hamburg. Led by multi-instrumentalist Sascha Konietzko, the band was formed in 1984 as an artistic performance project. As of 2016, KMFDM has released a total of nineteen studio albums, two dozen singles, and sold more than two million albums in the United States.

The band has undergone numerous personnel changes and has welcomed dozens of musicians. Its first formation included German drummer En Esch and British singer Raymond Watts; the latter left and rejoined the band several times during its history. Guitarist Günter Schulz joined the band in 1990 until the band's dissolution in 1999. Konietzko resurrected KMFDM in 2002 (Esch and Schulz refused to rejoin), and in 2005 formed a new band including American singer Lucia Cifarelli, guitarists Jules Hodgson and Steve White and British drummer Andy Selway.

KMFDM is considered one of the first bands to bring industrial music to a mainstream audience, but Konietzko prefers to consider their music as "The ultra-heavy Beat". While the band has always used many guitars, the addition of Schulz's riffs shifted the band toward a more industrial metal sound. The band incorporates heavy guitar riffs, electronic music, samples, and often feminine vocals into its music.
