Gildaa lives in the eye of the one who watches her, between France and Brazil. Her memory is like a capricious phone: the signal doesn't always get through. She sings bilingually but thinks back to front. A satirical poet, standing at the crossroads of chanson and baile funk, she has a drink with jazz and R'N'B, and bursts the boundaries of the concert. She only truly feels at home on stage, in her mind, where the absurd and the mystical are intimately bound together, a territory where, at last, everyone comes together. It is the audience that brings Gildaa to life. Only them. The origins of La Chica are like rivers that refuse to follow a single course. Her roots, deep and dense, plunge into the wild lands of Venezuela, where the mountains speak to the clouds and the warm earth sings beneath one's feet. But her branches also stretch towards Belleville, that Parisian neighbourhood where languages intertwine, where the pain of exile dances to the rhythm of dreams that rise up. It is between these worlds, in this space where past and future confront one another, that Sophie Fustec, who became La Chica, found her voice. Music did not come to her by chance. It has always been there, in the silence of Andean nights, in the tumult of Parisian streets. As a child, she learned to make the piano speak, to listen to it murmur secrets from another time. But it was not enough. She wanted sounds that shatter the silence, words that pierce the heart. She wanted melodies capable of gathering the fragments of scattered souls. La Chica sings for the lost, the forgotten, those who live in the shadow of their scars. Her art is an intimate conversation with the pains she carries and the forces she calls upon. In 2020, with La Loba, she wept and prayed for her late brother, making every note an offering to resilience. La loba, that she-wolf, that Mexican myth, taught her that women carry entire worlds within them.
