La passion des femmes

From age 15.

Running time: 1h20 (no interval)

Throughout Guy de Maupassant's work – and especially in his short stories – there are portraits of those courageous women who, in an overwhelmingly masculine and patriarchal century, managed to resist and assert their independence from men. While the man had the reputation of a bon vivant and an inveterate philanderer, the author, the short-story writer, was himself more sensitive and, to a certain extent, a campaigner. Through his various portraits, he succeeded in painting a complete picture of the condition of women: from the most wretched to the most brilliant, from the most tragic to the most comic, from the most victimised to the most combative.

This show is a tribute to all these women, who are often evoked and made invisible, and who, through their ingenuity and intelligence, knew how to use masculine weapons against men.

The show could be summed up thus: "Don't be so naïve, gentlemen, you are masters of nothing"!
