Overview
Love and Revenge presents an electro-visual creation built around the great voices of cinema and song from the Arab world.
This project brings together Wael Koudaih, Mehdi Haddab, Julien Perraudeau and the memory of the diva Oum Kaltoum. The artistic proposal crosses today's electronic music with the visual and sound archives of the twentieth century, in particular the golden age of Egyptian cinema. Mehdi Haddab, a Franco-Algerian musician and oud player, brings a distinctive instrumental approach that engages in dialogue with machines and synthesisers.
On stage, the group presents a set that combines instrumental performances, electronic beats and projections of extracts from old films. The musical writing reinterprets melodies from the Near East by setting them against contemporary textures. This proposal is aimed at audiences curious about the crossroads between regional traditions and today's electronic aesthetics, in the concert configuration of the Théâtre des Bergeries.
