Overview
Guillaume Séverac-Schmitz reimagines Shakespeare's legendary work in a 'pop' version, full of youthful fire, a symbol of emancipation and rebellion.
A new staging of Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare's legendary work in the repertoire, brought to the stage by Guillaume Séverac-Schmitz. The artist revisits the play through the lens of today's issues, using Clément Camar-Mercier's tight, focused translation.
He brings together a mostly female cast of young performers who inhabit the characters with incandescent energy. Beyond the legendary love story, it is the impatience of youth and its capacity to believe in its wildest dreams that he wants to bring to the stage.
Far from romantic clichés, he stages a multidisciplinary, performative piece of theatre blending acting, dance, video and live music, with a wealth of stage effects. Electronic music, a disco ball and humour are also part of the party...
