Medium Build

Medium Build at La Maroquinerie

Super! presents

Medium Build in an exceptional concert on 12 March 2027 at La Maroquinerie.

Nick Carpenter, of the band Medium Build, never imagined that his career as a singer-songwriter would lead him to such heights. But when it happened — a rise made possible by his songs of formidable precision and fearless introspection, his electrifying performances and his caustic, hilarious humour — he was certainly not prepared to find himself so close to the precipice.

Today, following on from his album Country (2024), which brought him to the attention of the general public, after years of relentless touring under ever more powerful spotlights and on ever larger stages, and after recovering from the repercussions that so often accompany fame, comes King of Having Fun, the most cohesive, most extroverted and most joyful album Medium Build has made to date. Recorded not in an isolated bedroom, as most of his previous work was, but live in a studio with his closest friends and collaborators, the album is driven by a refreshing rock'n'roll energy, combined with the artist's familiar sound, halfway between lo-fi, indie and country, while remaining grounded in the biting lyrical insight and powerful introspection that have earned Carpenter the affection of a multitude of fans around the world. Designed to propel Medium Build towards new heights of fame thanks to its sonic power and its songwriting talent, *King of Having Fun* is the story of a broken soul who picks up the pieces in the darkness at the bottom of the abyss and rediscovers true love — for others, for joy and for oneself.
