Orchestre Français des Jeunes

L'Orchestre Français des Jeunes at the Théâtre du Châtelet.

How softly the enchanted sounds of Mozart's music still echo for me in the distance of memory! […] Immortal Mozart, how—oh, how many beneficial impressions of a luminous and better life than this do you bring to our souls!

Franz Schubert, The Orchestre français des jeunes today trains artists aged 16 to 25 who tomorrow will work as orchestral musicians in France and around the world.

Since the summer of 2023, the orchestra has been in residency in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, and during the autumn session, known as the "classical" session, the musicians stay and work at the Saline royale d'Arc-et-Senans.

For this residency culmination, the Orchestre français des jeunes gives one of its first concerts at the Châtelet, under the direction of violinist and conductor Guillaume Chilemme.

Two of the forty-one symphonies composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart are on the programme: the first... and the last, known as "Jupiter", perhaps the most famous of all and marking the pinnacle of his orchestral work.

But the voice is also present at this concert, with a selection of lieder by Franz Schubert, performed by Sandrine Piau.

Orchestrated by 20th-century composers, with the exception of Jacques Offenbach, these lieder put the succession of classical, romantic and modern styles into perspective for the duration of a concert. Programme Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Symphony No.
