Taapita

« Taapita - Chants des désirs et des dévotions  » (Songs of Desires and Devotions) is a danced narrative that delves deep into the profound passion and tender emotions of love and devotion.

Each piece in this performance is a dance of burning passion, deep desire, faithful devotion, and the bittersweet pain that accompanies it, much like the scorching yet magnificent days of summer.

« Taapita  » is a four-part solo Bharatanatyam presentation, journeying through diverse universes.

The performance traverses the majestic ambiance of the Mannargudi Rajagopalaswamy temple, the intimate chamber of Mata Sita in Lanka, the spiritual landscapes of Odisha, where it explores the sublime Bhakti poetry of Banamali Dasa, and concludes in the land of the Shakta Upasakas, Bengal.

Pritam Das expresses his passion for dance through his immense dedication and natural grace as a Bharatanatyam dancer.

Having received his initial training under the guidance of Jayita Ghosh and Samrat Dutta, he is now under the advanced tutelage of Rama Vaidyanathan, recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi award.

Pritam has performed solo and as part of his teacher's ensemble at several prestigious festivals.

He is an 'A' grade artist at Doordarshan, an empanelled artist with Spic Macay, and has also received a national scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and the Government of Delhi. Photo: Chuchi Guerra
