From its early performances in the intimate atmosphere of Dièse Onze to the grand stages of prestigious festivals, on both sides of the Atlantic, The Brooks has built a reputation as a formidable groove machine.
At the heart of this supergroup project formed in the early 2010s lie the pleasure of playing, genuine artistic freedom, and a strong sense of collegiality.
Electrifying on record and on stage, The Brooks' music is driven by bouncing rhythmics, flamboyant brass, inventive keyboards, and bewitching guitar lines.
Navigating between funk, soul, r'n'b, afrobeat, and jazz, The Brooks brings together bassist Alexandre Lapointe, veteran singer and trombonist Alan Prater, guitarist Philippe Look, and percussionist Philippe Beaudin, virtuosos with impressive track records.
The formation has released five albums, with the most recent, Soon As I Can (2024), propelling their grooves to new heights.
The Brooks is much more than the sum of its parts: it is a celebration of over 50 years of evolution in Afro-American music, both respectful of its roots and firmly anchored in the present.
