Braises - Michel Kelemenis

A vast repertoire of vanished gestures comes to explore the metaphorical threads of the word 'braises' (embers).

Flickering light, the fierce warmth of the hearth, social wildfire, megafires… Michel Kelemenis celebrates his fortieth season with a new creation drawing on his own body of work.

Already, in his recent pieces, elements of the past would slip in and twist, by mischief, by pleasure, through thematic echoes, or because he recognises in them a personal syntax.

Here, seven longtime performers take hold of fragments gleaned from these intangible archives, made of images, emotion and fragmented memory, turning them into fuel for movements brought up to date by today's bodies. A striking dynamism emerges, life itself invading the stage.

Critics say: 'His finely honed, musical writing is much admired. ' Agnès Izrine, Danser Canal Historique
