De 1971 à 1986, Joe Zawinul et Wayne Shorter ont fait vivre et vibrer une aventure collective foisonnante, Weather Report.
Samy Thiébault choisit de s’attaquer au monument, d’explorer son répertoire électrique et électrisant, et de le transposer en acoustique, au format pianosax-flûte alto.
Une gageure que le saxophoniste relève en réarrangeant les compositions du légendaire groupe de jazz fusion – “Black Market“, “Birdland“, “Teen Town“... – et en les réécrivant sur mesure pour la pianiste Émilie Aridon-Kociolek.
Le duo en osmose – épaulé en studio par le producteur Daniel Yvinec – les pare de ses propres inspirations et en offre une relecture libre et sensible. Un témoignage qui donne à ces titres mythiques et familiers un écho singulier.
