This Is The Kit

This Is The Kit at La Maroquinerie

Super! presents This Is The Kit in concert on 4 May 2027 at La Maroquinerie.

In today's whirlwind, almost apocalyptic world, talking about time can seem like a waste of time. Why dwell on the past when we could simply live in the present, given that the future never stops reminding us how catastrophic it is going to be?

But with This Is The Kit, aka Kate Stables (singer-songwriter / banjo player / pinhole photography enthusiast / born in Winchester, United Kingdom, and living in Paris), we are going to have to pay at least a little attention to time. For not only is Kate still here and still producing albums of cataclysmic honesty and warm sonorities, she also continues to evolve, which is probably the only sensible way to move forward through time. The music of This Is The Kit places great emphasis on camaraderie; feeling welcome in her world is therefore an obvious privilege, whether on record or in a concert hall, alongside her exceptional musicians: Rozi Plain (bass), Jamie Whitby-Coles (drums) and Neil Smith (guitar). And at this stage of our muddled story, the simple fact of still being here, of keeping your head held high and of creating music around which we can gather, is a heroic act. A joyful survival as a way of losing one's time? I'll take that any day of the week. Devote at least one day of your week this year to This Is The Kit, and I guarantee it will be time well wasted.
