Overview
Stéphanie Aflalo continues her 'Récréations philosophiques' with a metaphysical and comic piece about death.
With her 'Récréations philosophiques', Stéphanie Aflalo stages comic confrontations between theatre and philosophy. This time, she draws on the thought of the philosopher Jacques Derrida in order to make it derail all the better.
'Each time unique, the end of the world', he wrote to describe the intimate upheaval caused in us by the death of a loved one.
Drawing on these reflections, Stéphanie Aflalo strikes up a dialogue that is both intimate and metaphysical with the video image of her father, whose taste for farce and excess she has inherited.
Weaving together singing, dance and piano, Tout doit disparaître becomes an exchange that refuses to end, a form of rehearsal for grief, the way one rehearses a play, since to philosophise, as the saying goes, is to learn to die.
Cultivating a highly singular sense of wisdom, Stéphanie Aflalo delivers a burlesque meditation on time.
