VEME REPUBLIQUE
Compagnie Cassandre questions our mode of political organisation through the prism of presidential elections. A burning topical issue! But why vote? And for whom?
The return of Compagnie Cassandre, after the success of L’art d’avoir toujours raison presented last season! Ve République (we couldn’t find anything better), directed by Sébastien Valignat, questions our mode of political organisation through the prism of presidential elections. By turns a rally hall, a TV studio or a candidate’s campaign HQ, the show dissects our dear democracy with ferocious humour. Drawing on research, the company traces the democratic wanderings of France from the French Revolution to the present day. As for the theatre, it echoes what is unfolding in real time in the public debate over the presidential elections. How is it that talking politics with people who share our ideas nonetheless generates so much conflict? Why vote? For whom? Should we vote tactically? Or vote ‘barrage’?… So many burning questions of the day!
