Xavier Belin Trio – Pléonasme 5

Presented by Le Baiser Salé - 1-016846 / 2-016877 / 3-0187

Martinican pianist, composer and arranger Xavier Belin is establishing himself as one of the rising voices in contemporary jazz. Revealed by his debut album Pitakpi, named "Révélation" by Jazz Magazine, he develops a music nourished by Caribbean rhythms, Martinican tradition and jazz improvisation. With PLÉONASME, Xavier Belin explores an obvious truth: jazz is creole music by its very essence, born from crossroads, transmissions and cultural blendings. Through a repertoire of standards from creole territories, from Martinique to Haiti, from Réunion to Trinidad, he highlights the deep connections between these cultures and the history of jazz. For this fifth edition, PLÉONASME reinvents itself as a piano-bass-drums trio. A lineup where collective playing, groove and rhythmic heritage take on a new dimension. Between Caribbean melodies, modern jazz language and improvisations, Xavier Belin continues his work around musical creoleness: a living, moving music that is transmitted as much as it is transformed. For 15 years, it has supported emerging artists through regular residencies, offering them a space for creation, experimentation and encounters with the audience
