Bill Callahan, born William Rahr Callahanen on June 3, 1966 in Silver Spring, Maryland, also known by the name Smog or (Smog), is an American pop singer and composer. He began producing lo-fi and alternative country cassettes and records before releasing albums with a more professional sound on the Drag City label. He has a very characteristic deep voice and airs and texts marked by great melancholy.
