About — The artist
Cheb Mami is the « prince of raï »: his high, ornate voice has carried the Algerian genre onto stages around the world, from the global hit duet « Desert Rose » with Sting to classics such as « Parisien du Nord » with K-Mel and « Meli Meli ». Blending Oranese tradition, pop and urban sounds, he has had several generations dancing on both shores of the Mediterranean. His Paris concerts are intense raï celebrations, where the Maghrebi diaspora celebrates a repertoire that has become shared heritage.
