About — The artist

Devin Garrett Townsend, born 5 May 1972 in New Westminster, is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist musician (among other things a singer, guitarist and keyboardist), working across various styles of heavy metal.

He pursues a solo career, but also and above all with his various bands Strapping Young Lad, The Devin Townsend Band (from 2003 to 2006) and the Devin Townsend Project (since 2009). He has also appeared on numerous albums as a guest (Front Line Assembly, Paradise Lost, Ayreon, Gojira…) and/or producer (Soilwork, Lamb Of God, Bleeding Through, Gwar, Zimmer's Hole…). He has also recorded a few demos alongside Jason Newsted (then of Metallica) through IR8 (a trio also featuring Tom Hunting of Exodus) and Tree Of The Sun (a quartet with Scott Reeder of Kyuss and Dale Crover of the Melvins).
