About — The artist
Kiya Tabassian is a musician, singer and composer born in 1976 in Tehran. He has lived in Canada since 1990, where he founded the ensemble Constantinople, of which he is the artistic director and composer.
The ensemble Constantinople explores the fusion of Persian musical traditions with other styles from around the world. It has performed in many countries alongside great musicians such as Kayhan Kalhor, Ablaye Cissoko, Ghalia Benali, Françoise Atlan, Hana Blažíková, Shashank Subramanyam and Marco Beasley.
