Syd Matters

Syd Matters is a French indie folk band, blending folk and melancholic pop, founded in 2002 by singer-songwriter Jonathan Morali. Their musical style combines slow melodies and sophisticated acoustic arrangements, mixing ethereal guitars with subtle electronic touches.

Winners of the CQFD competition organised by Les Inrockuptibles magazine in 2002, the band released a critically acclaimed debut album, A Whisper and a Sigh, in 2003. The line-up then expanded to become a quintet, releasing several critically praised opuses such as Someday We Will Foresee Obstacles in 2005, Ghost Days in 2006, and Brotherocean in 2010. The band achieved major international renown in 2015 thanks to the inclusion of several of their tracks, including the famous Obstacles, in the soundtrack of the successful video game Life Is Strange.
