About — The artist

Washington Dead Cats (abbreviated WDC) is a French psychobilly band. Formed in 1984, WDC was a major band on the alternative scene of the 1980s. They made a comeback in the early 2000s, after almost ten years of inactivity. Although categorised as a psychobilly band, their style is extremely varied and includes punk rock, 60s garage, swing, mambo, rocksteady, and surf rock. It is for this reason that they called their music punkabilly. In total, they have also appeared on about fifteen compilations.

The line-up was stable from the 2000s to 2015, after which the band saw personnel changes with the departure of guitarist Lord Fester, who dedicated himself primarily to painting and comics. The 2000s line-up included Lord Fester (guitar, playing a Gretsch), Seaweedyo (drums), Carlos « El Guanako » (bass), The Mols (trumpet), Kallhim GG (saxophone). The line-up changed a lot between the 1980s and 1990s. On the album Go Vegetable Go, there were only Mat Firehair, Tom Carasko, X-Lior, Masto, and François Mosnier alias Frank Darlock.

Currently, its members are Mat Firehair (vocals), Seaweedyo (drums), You Rip (bass), The Duke (guitar), Kall Him G.G (saxophone), and Juju (trumpet). Mat Firehair is, to this day, the only survivor from the first period. Although they have played many benefit concerts and repeatedly affirmed their anti-racism, WDC have never written a political song.
