Overview
À l’ombre du réverbère Bertrand Kaczmarek / Enzo Verdet / Redwane Rajel Text Bertrand Kaczmarek, Enzo Verdet, Redwane Rajel, based on the life of Redwane Rajel With Redwane Rajel Directed and designed by Enzo Verdet Salle Topor Running time 1h25 In partnership with Théâtre Paris-Villette Saturday 27 February screening of the documentary Au-delà de la haine by Olivier Meyrou, followed by a discussion Can theatre save lives?
Yes! It was in prison that Redwane Rajel met the directors who would change his life.
After performing under the direction of Joël Pommerat and Olivier Py, the former inmate takes the step of telling his own story and recounts his life, from his childhood in a working-class neighbourhood of Avignon to the fight that went wrong and sent him to the Le Pontet detention centre.
Alone on stage, buoyed by his regained freedom and his discovery of theatre, which has given him a new role in society, he turns the experience of imprisonment into a vibrant, funny monologue brimming with sincerity.
We step into the intimate reality of the sentences to be served, and this individual rescue through art brings a taste of hope and of revenge over fate.
