Overview
Presented by La Compagnie de L'Elan. When present and past intertwine around a historic city searching for its identity. A strange phone call from Odessa will disrupt the quiet Parisian life of Stéphane and Marie, a brother and sister.
It concerns a distant inheritance that suddenly reminds them they know nothing of their maternal origins. Stéphane is wary, Marie curious.
They thus discover the unusual story of Vassilka, their mysterious Slavic grandmother whom they never knew… Between reality and legends, memories, forgotten facts and desires, the belated questions of two proud Parisians, brother and sister, about their hidden origins, and the strained family ties that connect them in time and space to Odessa.
The secrets of the enigmatic Babouchka Vassilka eventually cross prohibitions and borders, suddenly becoming concrete and prompting a necessary understanding of the present and a dreamed projection into the future. Directed by: Luana Kim.
