Presented by La Compagnie de L'Elan. « To enter this country, you need a passport that is a passport. The passport is the noblest part of man. » From Exile: Two characters fleeing Nazi Germany meet on a train platform. A sword of Damocles hangs over their heads.
But however serious the times, Brecht believes they deserve to be treated with humour. During their conversations, they address personal, political, social, and historical subjects.
Brecht uses dialectical irony, which he applies to serious topics through the mouths of his two interlocutors.
At the Trial: On September 19, 1947, Brecht, exiled in the United States, received a summons to appear before the House Un-American Activities Committee to answer for his political views.
This was one of the darkest pages in American society, orchestrated by Senator Joseph McCarthy. Let us remember that Brecht had to flee his country in 1933 because of his anti-Nazi activities and works. Directed by: François Dragon.
