Overview
Attila Giuseppe Verdi Who better than Maestro Muti to champion the blood-soaked Attila of Verdi?
Cast Maharram Huseynov | Attila Navasard Hakobyan | Ezio Lidia Fridman | Odabella Piero Pretti | Foresto Orchestre National de France Riccardo Muti | conductor Chœur de Radio France | conductor Alessandro Di Stefano
In brief Attila is an early work by Verdi, fiery and turbulent, which marks a turning point in the composer's career between the bel canto traditions of his predecessors and the emergence of his own style, which would make him the figurehead of Italian opera in the second half of the nineteenth century. Verdi takes liberties here with history, giving his characters a far more complex profile, particularly the hero Attila, here beset by doubts and far removed from the bloodthirsty legend of the king of the Huns.
