Benjamin Grosvenor

Benjamin Grosvenor piano The art of the sonata, in which British pianist Benjamin Grosvenor shines with real class.

In brief

What a shock his previous performance of Chopin's "Second" on the stage of the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées was! "It takes a few moments to collect oneself, the time to understand that the roughly twenty minutes of this Sonata in B-flat minor was a journey into another temporal dimension, in which the pianist turned this work into a grand piece with broadened horizons," wrote the astonished specialist Alain Lompech, for example. If record collectors remember that his reading of Petrarch's Sonnets for Decca's microphones earned him a Diapason d'or at the start of the decade, Parisians will discover how Benjamin Grosvenor approaches Mozart's "Linz" and Beethoven's "Moonlight".

Unmissable.
