La Seine Musicale continues its exploration, drawing out the affinities between jazz and world music, driven by a taste for diversity and discovery. Beyond styles and across generational boundaries, its programming features great international figures, reveals emerging talents and offers unprecedented encounters. So many invitations to get swept up in the pulsing rhythms of swing and groove, and to share in the euphoria of improvisation!

Although he continues to dazzle us with his phenomenal inventiveness and innate sense of swing, Biréli Lagrène now goes beyond pure virtuosity to reach a higher level of quality, as shown by his latest album "Elegant People". This extraordinary musician gives his guitar a multidirectional sweep in which his protean genius is on full display. Playing mostly acoustically, he reinvents a few standards, revisits the roots of the blues, takes a detour through Brazil or indulges in moments of pure poetry. He even elevates the Weather Report composition that gives its title to this new album, lending it a distinctly personal arch.

Biréli Lagrène's return to La Seine Musicale is a rare opportunity to measure the distance travelled by this thoroughly intuitive musician, admired by his peers on the international stage: whether it's Jaco Pastorius, John Scofield, George Benson or Jean-Luc Ponty... all have recognised in him the absolute artist.
