Across centuries and borders, Christmas has inspired an immense repertoire of songs and music celebrating the birth of Christ. Stemming from popular traditions, liturgy, or scholarly creation, these works successively express the joy, peace, contemplation, and hope that accompany this universal celebration. Bringing together the various ensembles of the Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris, this concert offers a musical journey where great classics of the Christmas repertoire, contemporary choral pieces, and traditional melodies from diverse cultures coexist. The interventions of the grand organ and the choir organ enrich this sound mosaic, while works by Whitacre, Lauridsen, Holst, or Rutter dialogue with songs passed down from generation to generation. Throughout the evening, the audience will also be invited to join their voices with the choirs to share some of the great Christmas refrains. A warm and luminous musical celebration that invites everyone to rediscover the spirit of Christmas in the heart of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.
